Hurricane Preparedness

The Tropics are active and we are in the peak of hurricane season, so HAVE A PLAN & BE PREPARED! NOAA is forecasting a range of 12 to 17 total named storms (winds of 39 mph or higher). Regardless of predictions, it takes only one devastating storm to make it a “bad” hurricane season. As a barrier island, Highland Beach is in a MANDATORY EVACUATION ZONE when Hurricanes rated as a Category 2 or higher are expected to make landfall. If you have not done so already, please register for CodeRED through the Town’s website or by visiting Town Hall or the Police Department to receive emergency communications from the Town. Remember - HAVE A PLAN & BE PREPARED!

Please be aware that criminals travel areas searching out unlocked vehicles and vehicles where keys and key fobs are left inside. The best and easiest way to prevent these crimes and deter them from occurring is to simply LOCK YOUR CAR! Please, never leave valuables, and certainly not firearms, in your vehicle and always LOCK YOUR CAR!
