Fire Safety Inspection

The Town of Highland Beach enforces specific permitting requirements to uphold fire safety standards and minimize environmental risk. Before organizing a public gathering, fireworks display, or any activity involving open flame, residents must apply for a specialty permit through the Fire-Rescue Services Department. This ensures the availability of resources and compliance with Florida statutes, especially during sensitive seasons like turtle nesting months. To obtain a permit, applicants must complete the form-fillable PDF and submit it via email to the Fire Marshal’s Office at mwelhaf@highlandbeach.us. The permit form requires signatures from all responsible parties and includes associated inspection or apparatus fees as applicable.

Permit Types and Fees:

• Bonfire Permit (Beach only) – $300.00
• LP Gas Burn-Off Permit – $300.00
• Indoor Pyrotechnics (Hazing Effect) – $250.00
• Outdoor Fireworks (Land or Water) – $250.00
• Fire Watch Services – $125.00/hour (4-hour minimum, $500 minimum)
• Special Events with Fire Staff – $150/hour (2-hour minimum)
• Fire Flow Testing Services – $350.00
• Use of Fire Department Equipment – Assessed Hourly
• After-Hours or Weekend Inspections – Based on staffing needs
• Resident-Initiated Inspections – $100.00
